Version 0.6.2 is out! (the 300 page update)


After a bit of work, this book has reached 300 pages in length!

This is mostly a maintenance release, here are the biggest updates:

  • Added some tile creation tips
  • New "Accessibility in videogames" section
  • Slightly furthered the "Shaders" section, by mentioning visual editors and adding a small GLSL example
  • New genre-specific sections:
    • Bullet Hells
    • Roguelikes and Roguelites
  • New "Wandering algorithms" in the AI section
  • New "non-optimizations" in the "Profiling and Optimization" section
  • Small mention and discussion about the "lives system" in the Game Design section
  • Added a small section dedicated to wave forms, so to better understand FM synthesis in the "Creating your resources" section.
  • Some refinements here and there.
