Hello everyone, time for another update!
Design Patterns
I decided to add placeholders for new and useful design patterns, like Visitor, Decorator, and Adapter.
Since the design patterns section is going to grow considerably in the future, I decided to make it a chapter on its own, chapter 13.
The DMCA
Inspired by game journalist's Jim Sterling woes with game developers abusing DMCA takedowns, I decided to make a small section dedicated to the Digital Millennium Copyright Act and the Fair Use doctrine.
This section tries to distill and simplify a very complex matter, as well as criticize the extraordinarily dreadful act of abusing the Copyright law to silence criticism and "DMCA critics out of platforms".
Spring Cleaning
I finally decided to do some spring cleaning of the repository, since some files were in the wrong folders, as well as restructuring some documents to make them more compatible with a future EPub release.
I removed some old TODOs that I keep forgetting here and there, as well as add a missing "summary table" for the Component/Composite design pattern.
The README and CONTRIBUTING files have been edited to better match the current status of the project.
I decided to remove the "minipages" that were used in some spots to "make comparisons" between code listings and images, this doesn't work well with a flexible format like EPub or as a concept in general: it's harder to read and it doesn't look that good anyway.
Karnaugh Maps, made with LaTeX, have been converted to SVG images to make them compatible with EPub Releases.
Epub Release hits Beta!
I decided to put out a beta of version 0.6.7, pseudocode only, hopefully someone notices possibly differences between the PDF version (missing content, mostly).
The epub version should theoretically be equivalent in content to the PDF version, just in a better format for your e-reader.
There are still a few kinks here and there that will be worked out, but hey, we're really close!
Conclusions
Work on the book has been spotty, but I foresee a new release not too far into the future, both on PDF and Epub branches. Things are going well for now.
Stay safe everyone!
Penaz.
