Status of the Project @ 2021-10-06

Hello everyone!

I know I have been silent for a while and I apologize, but after the burnout and some real life woes we are finally back with another update!

There have been a lot of things going on, "under the hood", mostly due to the fact that some parts of the book were becoming too unwieldy to work on: some markdown files were over 1000 lines long and searching for anything was starting to get frustrating.

Now the new structure has shorter files, it's more flexible while maintaining the original order.

Some new sections have been written, although they are short and not extremely content-heavy.  Some others have been updated and some standard housekeeping has been performed.

The book has also been split into "logical parts" which won't show in the table of contents: this is mostly to further separate each chapter and make it easier to give the reader a "more orderly experience".

What is happening now?

At the moment I'm in the middle of two things:

  • Restructuring the "collision reaction" section: it's confusing, incomplete and not up to my standards, the reference images are not clear and will be remade, the sections will be reordered and edited. It's probably the worst section of the book, in my opinion.
  • Uniforming the pseudocode listings: while writing the book i started with a heavily annotated python-like style, slowly transitioning to a more C-like one. This made the pseudocode hard to understand and unstructured. I've written a style guide and will try to follow it as closely as possible.

When will there be a new release?

I don't know.

I'm aiming for releasing version 0.7.2 towards the end of the month of October, but this is now a project I work on less than an hour a day, in the evening.

We'll see what the future will bring us.

For now, that's all folks!

Take care everyone.
